Comics Talk Comics (comedy)
Daniel Brown, Norm de Plume, and Special Guest Matt Moseley meet weekly to discuss comic books/movies that have been considered poor. Daniel Brown is the comics book expert, Norm de Plume is the veteran, and Special Guest Matt Moseley is padawan. If you like laughing, America, comic books, professional wrestling, Lorenzo Lamas, Christina Hendricks*, or freedom then we are the podcast for you. *We at ComicsTalkComics recognize everyone likes Christina Hendricks so, therefore, you must listen to us.

It's been a minute, but we're still kicking. We will be returning to our regular schedule and we wanted to start it the right way: The greatest Amalgam comic we could find. Host Daniel Brown, Co-Host Norm de Plume, and SoCo (Southern Comfort) Matt Moseley meet up to discuss the last comic book you'll ever need: Lobo the Duck.

So put the kids to bed, pull out a beer, and join us for another issue of Comics Talk Comics.

The 'cast continues to delve into the lunacy that is The Fantastic Four. Daniel Brown, Norm de Plume, and Matt Moseley discuss the latter part of the movie which, and we know this is hard to believe, even crazier than the first half.

We stay pretty much on topic, though there is some discussion of Ruben Studdard opening a sandwich shop with Pee Wee Herman called "Ruben and Reuban's Reubans." If you have ties to one of those guys then get a hold of them and make it happen because if this movie can get made then ANYTHING is possible.

With the recent release of The Fantastic Four (2015) getting a Rotten Tomatoes score of 9% the podcast wanted to do a movie review of it...

...but then we realized that it was probably coming to Blue Ray in a month, so instead we decided to look back in time at the first attempt at the Fantastic Four franchise in movie form. Roger Coreman backed the project for a little over one million dollars or, in comparison, the amount every member of Seinfeld was paid (per episode) only two years later.

It really shows. Daniel Brown, Norm de Plume, and Special Guest Matt Moseley discuss the first half of the movie and try to find some semblance of sanity to it all.

Sadly, the gang has come to the end of Archie Vs. Predator. It has been a fun ride watching the entire cast of Archie drop like flies to a teenage predator, but all good things have to come to an end.

Daniel Brown, Norm de Plume, and Special Guest Matt Moseley are all in agreement that this is the finest series we've reviewed. However, we are not in agreement about who do you date: Betty or Veronica. Curious? The answers will be revealed at the end of the podcast.

Sorry for missing the last week, but we hope to make it up to you by releasing a Sunday episode *and* an episode by Wedensday. That's the Comics Talk Comics guarantee.

This week we continue our discussion about SG(WN?)LL. We try to get to the bottom of why the most powerful man in the world has been relegated to an episode of I Love Lucy. It's going to be a real gee golly swell time.

Finally, Comics Talk Comics has come back to where we began. If you've been following us since the first release you know that we sometimes speak of a lost episode. One whose audio was destroyed by background noise and the fact that all the people on it got too drunk to make coherent arguments.

No more! We are making one more go of the original comic book that brought us (and this podcast) together: The Death of Superman. Norm de Plume and Daniel Brown were discussing comic books one day and TSoS came up; we do our best to recreate that discussion, which basically amounts to "No sir. We don't like it."

Joining us is Special Guest Matt Moseley, who also shares simliar feelings. The cold opening of the episode about the pitch meeting was created on the spot by him, but we at Comics Talk Comics are about 75% that's how it went down.

Come listen to us talk about the beloved comic book that is so bad that we felt a podcast was neccesary to share with the entire world.

Happy New Year loyal listeners! We at Comics Talk Comics decided to start the new year off with the right way: By going back in time to 1959.

Superman's Girl Friend Lois Lane is a comic book series that was created by 1950's, fighting-the-Russians, bringing-to-work-a-metal-lunch-box, belt-your-kids, don't-let-those-people-move-into-the-neighborhood, drink-whiskey-at-work, drive-a-car-made-out-of-steel, men.

Oh, and the series is about a woman.

Daniel Brown, special guest Sid Kuhn, and Special Guest Matt Moseley discuss just what this comic is about (we don't agree with it), who is it for (we don't know), and how insane this would be if it were printed today (quite).

Also, due to getting very sidetracked during our first break we end up doing only the first portion of the comic book. Stick around after the "bow...bow-wow-wow-wow-wow-woooooow" at the end credits to hear us all weigh in on our WWE Royal Rumble 2015 picks. Apologies to non-wrestling fans, but Norm de Plume wasn't here this week to reign in our idiocy.

You can reach us in a lot of ways now, but the following are the most common:

We're always looking for ideas for new comics (good and bad) to check out.

This week we once again dive into the world of Titan City. Daniel Brown, Norm de Plume, Special Guest Matt Moseley, and special guest Sid Kuhn discuss the..."plot." The group also discusses several other things, which include:

  • Attempting to sell Norm de Plume on the entertainment value wrestling. It goes as expected.
  • How to perform a RKO. Also, RKO Vines.
  • Matt and Daniel try not to talk about WWE Supercards. They fail.
  • Stay for the post-credits sequence to hear us weigh in on Rocky movies. Put the pitchforks away: Rocky 5 is agreed upon as unwatchable.

Finally, there is a Shawn Stasiak joke in the show. Nobody is going to get it, but we assure you: It's solid.

On the front cover of NFL SuperPro #6 the following phrase is proudly displayed: "COMICDOM'S FAVORITE FOOTBALL HERO."

We at Comics Talk Comics couldn't agree more. Despite the numerous amount of football-related heroes out there we find ourselves time and time again putting SuperPro above the rest. This week Daniel Brown, Norm de Plume, and Special Guest Matt Moseley discuss Phil Grayfield's attempt at race relations using "John Wayne's School of Anthropology" (the comic books words, not ours).

Oh, and the continuing theme of "people who wear suits and smoke are villains" manages to be fulfilled in both issues by two completely different people. So if you run a business, wear a suit, and smoke cigars then feel free to stop trying to close down the local kid's recreational center for a few hours and join us as comics talk comics.

The holidays put us on a staggered schedule, but we still found a way to get this episode into your hands. This week Daniel Brown and Norm de Plume discuss Holy Terror, which was originally meant to be "Batman vs. Muslims" and eventually became "Batman-without-the-ears vs. Muslims."

We ask the hard questions since you don't have to, but just to TLDR our podcast for people who don't want to listen:

Do we consider Frank Miller's The Spirit or Holy Terror to be "The floor" of his work? Yes.

Is the art better than or worse than WWE Superstars? Yes.

Who would win in a fight: David, a super hero with the Star of David on his face, or Jason Bourne? No.

Does any of that make sense to you? No? Well, then I guess you're going to have to suffer with us as we get drunk and try to enjoy...Holy Terror!

"Better scoot out on my thigh jets." Let's do a thought exercise: Stare at a blank sheet of paper and then read that opening line out loud to yourself. Now do it again. And Again. Continue doing this for 20-30 seconds; if you performed this correctly then you'll notice you're losing your mind.

And we did too. Daniel Brown, Norm de Plume, and Special Guest Matt Moseley set out to answer a lot of the hard questions. No joke: We normally do two issues in one podcast, but NFL Super Pro #5 was so dense with absurdity that we ended up doing just one issue. However, mid-podcast we decide that the dialogue was too good not to do the entire issue as a radio play.

If you like football puns then you should probably not be permitted to operate a motor vehicle, but don't let our judgement stop you from enjoying this very special episode of Comics Talk Comics.

We know what you're thinking: "What if Tim Tebow became Robocop?"

Well, Fabien Nicieza thought the same thing in 1991, which basically makes him the Nostradamus of comic books. Daniel Brown, Norm de Plume, and Special Guest Matt Moseley explore the implications of a landscape where there are sentient NFL robots, the technology used to put a stadium inside a penthouse, and why Philly fans may be the greatest antagonists in comic book history.

Feel free to follow us on our twitter at comstalkcomics. I'm pretty sure whatever twitter information Daniel gives at the end of the episode is just a BUNCH OF LIES! Also, "wrong twitter tag" might become a running theme for the next 2-3 episodes.

"There are bad things. There are bad things in the world. Many bad things. There are some things that are worse than those bad things. But this is the worst thing." - Norm de Plume

Well, we finally did it. We've been having a good time enjoying NFL comic books and the beautifully-rendered art of Billy Ray Cyrus' masculinity.

And then this happened. Joining us as a special guest is Sid Kuhn (and special guest Matt Moseley).

Daniel Brown frequently mentions Spiderman's One More Day and Brand New Day as the worst comics of all time, but then WWE Superstars decides to crash the party, kick his dog, eat his food, drink his beer, and throw up in his bed.

Also, Norm de Plume, who has no familiarity with wrestling, is taught by a room full of people (who are paying for both the WWE Network and their sins by reading this) how to fight without hurting the other person. Actually, if you don't know anything about wrestling you will learn the following during this podcast:

(1) Kayfabe

(2) How to do the People's Elbow

(3) How to do a proper choke slam

(4) CM Punk's real name

(5) The purpose of a Singapore cain/bamboo stick/wooden sword

(6) Daniel Bryan

(7) How John Cena sounds to Brent, who has never heard John Cena talk

(8) Why Randy Orton does that pose at the end of matches

(9) AND MUCH MORE!

This comic is so bad it must be treated like poetry, so let's end with what we started.

"This is the worst thing."

The front cover is Billy Ray Cyrus, a heavily-armored knight, and a Native American. If you need any more convincing that this is the most interesting thing that's going to happen during your week then I'm sorry you have better things to do, Tara Reid.

However, the rest of you will have your brains rocked.

Listen as Daniel Brown, Norm De Plume, and Special Guest Matt Moseley talk about the time travelling adventures of Papa Miley Cyrus. At some point in this comic there is as follows:

  1. Time Travel
  2. History lessons from BRC
  3. A princess named HuncaMunca
  4. A PR manager named Lotta Flack
  5. An Islamic wizard
  6. THREE, read em', THREE songs

Oh, and no embelishment: The greatest ending to a comic book, ever.

Have you ever read a comic book where a NCAA linebacker gets injured, gets super powers and ends up fighting a NCAA safety that didn't make it to the NFL, became a ninja, and then went on a killing spree?

Because we did for you.

Norm and Daniel try to get to the bottom of a complicated question: Is the SuperPro series good or awesome?

This podcast uses the term "Robocop Tim Tebow" several times.

You know you want to know why.

Join us as we discover the (616) world of NFL Super Pro. His strength in his fight against chemicals? Chemicals. His weakness? Leg injuries.

At some point in the podcast we figure out what's needed to make The Hulk serum. One of the ingredients is "game day tape."

You know you want to know why.

Fabien Nicieza, creator of Deadpool (and many more fantastic comics), wrote this comic book just so he could have season tickets to NFL games. It's incredible.

YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO KNOW WHY.
